Dear friends,


We as friends of Dr. Domingo Landicho would like to seek your financial and other support for the re-launching of the literary works of this important Filipino writer. Although he is so simple and a very low profile man, he continuously honor not only the nation by his works but also the pride of our people.

The Friends of Ka Domeng is a volunteer group which is organized for the purposes of re-launching his literary works as to provide the younger generation an inspiration not only in the field of journalism and culture but in their search for an identity and their rightful place in the life of the society. We also seek to develop a culture of reading among young people.

For the last half a century, Dr. Domingo Landicho, poet, fictionist, essayist, editor, columnist, actor, novelist and dramatist published materials reflecting the common man, importance of children and the cause of bringing literature to the impoverished masses.

His poetry has been featured all over the country, his zarzuela has been toured and performed on stages in the US, Canada and Australia by the UP Concert Choros. One of his novels, the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards Grand Prize winner “Bulaklak ng Maynila” Manila Blossoms has been made into an award-winning movie in 2000. He was a recipient of the prestigious 2003 SEA Write award by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand.

The “FRIENDS” as we call it, believes that through this endeavor that we can harness the strength and the good of the Filipino’s as reflected in the literary works of Ka Domeng.

Hunyo, nang pumanaw ang aking puso

Ay pumanaw sa pakikipagtalik sa paliguang dugo

Hunyo, nang ang silab ng araw
Ay buksan ang aking balat
Ibilad ang kalikasang ganap ng aking sugat
Hunyo, nang ang isda ay pumalaot
Sa dagat ng pulang dugo
Patugpa sa ibang lugal para magbanyuhay

"Isa sa pinakapremyadong manunulat na Pilipino sa ngayon..."

Si Domingo Goan Landicho ay makata, kuwentista, mananaysay, editor, kolumnista, nobelista at dramatista na nakapaglathala na ng mahigit na 30 aklat sa lahat ng anyo ng literatura, pedagogiya at literaturang pambata. Ang kanyang tula ay naging bahagi ng programa ng Cultural Center of the Philippines sa maraming lugal sa Pilipinas noong dekada otsenta. Ang kanyang sarsuwela ay itinanghal sa USA, Canada at Australia ng UP Concert Chorus. Ang isa niyang nobela ³Bulaklak ng Maynila² na nagkamit ng Dakilang Gantimpala sa Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature ay ginawang isang premyadong pelikula. Sa pelikulang ³The Year of Living Dangerously² na idinirihe ni Peter Weir sa MGM Pictures, gumanap siya ng mahalagang papel kasama nina Mel Gibson at Sigourney Weaver.

Si Landicho ay isang aktor sa teatro, TV at pelikula at isang aktibista sa larangan ng kultura. Pangulo siya ng 16th World Congress of Poets na nagdaos noong Agosto 2000 ng pandaigdigang kongreso ng mga makata sa Pilipinas sa pagtataguyod ng United Poets Laureate International. Pinili siya ng International Biographical Centre Cambridge sa England na isa sa 2000 Outstanding Writers of the 20th Century. Isa siyang international fellow ng International Writing Program ng US noong 1987 at naging keynote speaker ng Asian Writers Conference sa Seoul, Korea noong 1993. Naging kinatawan siya ng Pilipinas sa mga pandaigdigang komperensiya sa Germany (1981), Vietnam (1983), Cambodia (1983), Russia (1986), US (1992) at United Kingdom (1997). Isa siyang Examiner Responsible sa Filipino ng International Baccalaureate Organization sa England. Noong 2003, si Dr. Landicho ay tinanghal bilang S.E.A. Write Awardee ng bansang Thailand bilang pagkilala sa kanyang kontribusyon sa literatura sa Asya.

Sa edad na 68, si Landicho ay ginawaran ng titulong Propesor Emeritus, pinakamataas na pagpapakilala sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas. Si Landicho ay kasalukuyan ding Editor-In-Chief ng Tanod Publication at Grand Knight ng Knights of Columbus sa Quezon City at isang special minister of the Holy Communion ng kanyang parokya sa Novaliches ng Quezon City. Isa siyang lifetime member ng National Press Club of the Philippines; isang execom member ng National Commission for Culture and the Arts at isang Associate for Fiction ng UP Creative Writing Center. Si Landicho ay kasal kay Edna May Menez Obien, may apat silang anak at apat na apo. Isinilang siya sa Taal, Batangas, anak ng magsasaka.
